General Information Before Booking

Age & Boating Permit Requirements

  • You must be at least 18 years old to rent a motorboat, pontoon, or personal watercraft.
  • Minnesota law requires a Watercraft Operator’s Permit for anyone 21 years of age or younger operating a motorized boat.
  • Valid identification is required at check-in for all renters and operators.

Rental Duration

  • Rentals are available for hourly and extended time periods.
  • To book longer rentals, select your pickup date and adjust the duration in the reservation window before confirming.

Cancellation Policy

  • Reservations canceled 10 or more days in advance receive a full refund.
  • Reservations canceled 9 days or less prior to the rental date are non-refundable.
  • Cancellations must be completed through the reservation system or by contacting us before the deadline.

Weather Policy

  • Rentals may be canceled or rescheduled due to unsafe weather conditions such as lightning, high winds, or heavy rain.
  • Weather decisions are made at the discretion of BJ’s Bait and Tackle.
  • Forecasted weather alone does not qualify for a refund.
  • If we cancel due to unsafe conditions, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.

Boating Area Restrictions

  • All boats must remain on Clearwater Lake, Lake Augusta, or Otter Lake.
  • Watercraft may not be transported to other bodies of water.
